Santa Fe, New Mexico - (For Immediate Release) Smokin’ Bachi Taiko is a Santa Fe group who have fun practicing, performing, and producing music based mainly upon Japanese folk music. It's really fun now that we are located in the Wildmaker Art & Music School. Sally Blakemore of Arty Projects Studio, has given us a warm welcome where we share space with the Ethnosphere Music Lab, and a bunch of marimbas.
Smokin’ Bachi Taiko has performed at the Madrid Gypsy
Festival,
International Night at Albuquerque’s Sizzlin’ Summerfest, Santa
Fe JIN Matsuri (a Japanese Festival), The National Conference on the
Family in Stress and Crisis, The Museum of International Folk Art, The
Harwood Museum in Taos and The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and
Science, Kohnami Restaurant, and the world famous think tank at the Santa Fe Institute. Our music has crossed borders into Colorado where we played at the Taiko Awakening the Spirit Retreats.
Members have studied with Seiichi
Tanaka, Eiichi Saito, Ringtaro, Art Lee, Marco Lienhard, Kris
Bergstrom, Blake Himm, Yoshikazu
